120/240 Volt Circuit & Outlet Installations
Heavy-duty power for heavy-duty gear.
A dedicated 240-volt circuit feeds high-power equipment like electric dryers, ranges, hot tubs, welders, air compressors and EV chargers. Installing one in Central Texas typically costs $650–$1,500 depending on amperage and the distance from the panel.
Big equipment needs its own correctly sized circuit, wire and breaker, and the right receptacle for the job. We install dedicated 120V and 240V circuits for kitchens, laundry rooms, garages, workshops, RV pads and outdoor living spaces.
Signs you need 120/240v circuits
- New electric range, cooktop, wall oven or dryer
- Hot tub, sauna or pool equipment
- Garage shop: welder, compressor, table saw, kiln
- RV pad or NEMA 14-50 for an EV
- Mini-split or window AC needing its own circuit
What's included
- Load calculation and panel capacity check
- Correct wire gauge, breaker and receptacle for the appliance
- GFCI protection and disconnects where required
- Permit and inspection where required
What affects the price
Most 120/240v circuits projects in Central Texas land between $650–$1,500. Where yours falls depends on:
- Amperage (30A, 40A, 50A, 60A)
- Run length and routing
- Outdoor disconnect / GFCI requirements

120/240V Circuits FAQ
What's the difference between 120V and 240V circuits?
Standard outlets are 120V. A 240V circuit uses both legs of your service to deliver twice the voltage, which lets large appliances draw less current for the same power. Dryers, ranges, water heaters, AC units and EV chargers typically use 240V.
Can I plug a hot tub into a regular outlet?
Only small 'plug-and-play' 120V spas. Most hot tubs need a dedicated 240V, 40–60A GFCI-protected circuit with a disconnect within sight of the tub.
